Father Jim Prepares to RetireOn March 8, 2008, St. Luke’s parish family hosted a grand, high flying celebration in honor of Fr. Minshew’s retirement. His love of flying was the central theme as guests were welcomed aboard “The Spirit of St. Luke’s”. Family members, present and former parishioners, clergy and friends from within and outside the Diocese of S.E. Florida spent the late afternoon honoring Fr. Minshew. Love and laughter filled the parish hall as everyone spun tales of times shared together. Longtime friends including The Rev. Paul Rasmus, Rabbi Aaron Spiegel, The Honorable Dwight Geiger and Mr. Daniel Barwick “roasted” Fr. Minshew in great style followed by the presentation of a generous purse by Sr. Warden Susan Auld. The celebration ended all too soon, and everyone left feeling as they truly had been soaring.
