Comparative Faith Study Our Tuesday night Bible Study begins a new series on Tuesday May 8 at 5pm in the Parish Hall. Jesus and His Jewish Influences from The Great Courses. The presenter is Dr. Jodi Magness who is the Kenan Distinguished Professor for Teaching Excellence in Early Judaism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The first section of six weeks is at follows: May 8 Jesus and Judaism May 15 Sacred Mountains and Law Giving May 22 The United and Divided Israelite Kingdoms May 29 The Destruction of Solomon’s Temple June 5 The Jewish and Samaritan Schism June 12 The Jewish Diaspora and the Golden Rule This is an excellent background not only to understand Jesus’ teachings and sayings but also gives a solid understanding of the Old Testament.
